The deal record for the legal market

DealDatabase turns law firm deal announcements into a record you can search. For every transaction it shows who advised whom, the lawyers on each team, the value where one is disclosed, and the sectors and jurisdictions involved.

Why it exists

Deal announcements are the most reliable public signal of what law firms are doing. They name the firms, the clients, the teams and often the value. But they are scattered across thousands of press releases and news pages, written in different formats, and almost impossible to compare.

DealDatabase collects them in one place and structures every detail as data. You can see a firm's recent mandates at a glance, follow a lawyer's deal history, or pull every data centre financing in the Gulf this year in a single search.

Where the data comes from

Every record is built from a deal announcement published on Legal Desire. Law firms send their announcements to Legal Desire for publication, and each one becomes a structured record here, linked back to the original. New deals are added as they are announced.

Firms can also submit their deals directly with a free account, and follow each submission's status from their dashboard. There is no charge for inclusion.

How records are kept accurate

Each field in a record is taken from the words of the announcement itself. Values are recorded as the announcement states them, and details an announcement does not give are shown as not stated rather than estimated. If something is wrong, anyone named in a record can request a correction, and it is reviewed by a person.

Who it is for

  • Law firms use it for business development, pitch preparation and competitor tracking.
  • Recruiters and lateral hiring teams use it to find lawyers with real deal experience in a practice or market.
  • In-house legal teams use it to see which firms and lawyers handle comparable work before they instruct.
  • Journalists, analysts and researchers use it as a clean, searchable record of announced deals.

Profiles for firms and lawyers

Every firm and every named lawyer has a profile page. Lawyers and firms can claim their profile to add a biography, photo, contact details and links. The deal history on a profile always reflects the published record, so every profile is presented on the same footing.

Questions

About DealDatabase

Who publishes DealDatabase?

DealDatabase is published by Legal Desire Media, the team behind Legal Desire, an international legal news publication covering law firms, deals and the business of law.

What does a deal record include?

Each record shows the announcement headline and date, the advising firms and their roles, the deal type, sector, status, jurisdictions and cities. It also shows the named lawyers on each team, the disclosed value and what it refers to, the client and the counterparties. All of this is free to read.

How is the information checked?

Every field is taken from the text of the published announcement. Values are recorded exactly as the announcement states them, and where an announcement does not give a detail, the record says so rather than filling the gap. Anyone named in a record can ask for a correction.

Does DealDatabase rank law firms?

DealDatabase shows published deal activity: the deals a firm has announced and that appear in the record. It is a view of announced work, not the whole of a firm's practice. Where the paid plans show market share, it is the share of announced deals, labelled as such. Nothing in the record or its order is influenced by payment or by whether a firm is a subscriber.

How do I get my firm's deals included?

Create a free account and submit them through the submission page, then follow their status from your dashboard. There is no charge. Once an announcement is published, it is added to the database and linked from the firm's and each lawyer's profile.

How can I contact the team?

Email office@legaldesire.com for access, corrections or anything else. Legal tech companies and developers who want to collaborate or request API access can write to anuj@legaldesire.com.
